Indian automaker JBM Electric Vehicles has unveiled its latest innovation, the ECOLIFE e12, at Busworld 2025 in Brussels, marking a major step in the company’s global expansion and its official debut in Europe.
Led by Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of JBM Group, the launch highlights India’s growing influence in the global electric mobility sector. The ECOLIFE e12 city bus promises a driving range of up to 400 km per charge and features ultra-fast charging technology, ensuring higher uptime for public transport fleets.
Smart, Sustainable, and Safe Design
The ECOLIFE e12 is built using a lightweight stainless steel monocoque body, improving efficiency and durability. Inside, JBM focuses on sustainability — the seats and interiors are crafted from recycled materials, reflecting the company’s green design philosophy.
The bus integrates a European Union-compliant Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and advanced telematics, enabling real-time performance tracking and predictive maintenance to enhance operational safety and efficiency.
Safety remains a key focus. The ECOLIFE e12 is equipped with Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), including emergency braking, collision warnings, lane departure alerts, pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, and a 360° camera to ensure complete visibility around the vehicle.
JBM Expands Footprint in Europe
In line with its European entry, JBM Electric Vehicles announced the opening of its regional headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany. This facility will manage sales, service, partnerships, and after-sales operations across the continent.
Globally, JBM has deployed or secured contracts for over 11,000 electric buses. Its manufacturing base in India—one of the largest integrated EV bus facilities outside China—can produce up to 20,000 units annually. The company reports that its electric bus fleet has already logged 200 million electric kilometers, transporting over 1 billion passengers and cutting 1 billion kilograms of CO₂ emissions.
Toward a Net Zero Future
At Busworld 2025, JBM also introduced its JBM E-Verse ecosystem, a fully integrated EV platform combining charging systems, lithium-ion batteries, and power management solutions. This ecosystem is designed to deliver zero downtime and seamless operation for electric mobility users.
Reaffirming its commitment to sustainability, JBM aims to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2040. The company targets 20 billion passengers served and 3 billion electric kilometers within the next three years, aligning its growth with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on climate action and sustainable cities.
