Ather Energy Rizta Becomes A Blockbuster Success, Crosses 3 Lakh Sales In India

When Ather Energy introduced the Ather Rizta in April 2024, the company was stepping into unfamiliar territory. Known primarily for sporty and performance-focused electric scooters, Ather suddenly shifted its attention toward Indian families — a segment dominated for years by practical petrol scooters.

Just 25 months later, that decision has turned into one of the biggest success stories in India’s electric two-wheeler market.

As of April 2026, cumulative wholesales of the Ather Rizta are estimated at an impressive 3,09,501 units, making it one of the fastest-growing electric scooters in the country. More importantly, the Rizta has evolved from being “just another EV launch” into the very backbone of Ather’s business.

The Scooter That Changed Ather’s Story

The Ather Rizta was designed with a very different philosophy compared to the brand’s earlier offerings like the Ather 450X. Instead of focusing purely on sporty handling and aggressive styling, the Rizta was built around comfort, practicality, and everyday convenience.

Deliveries began in July 2024, and the scooter immediately struck a chord with Indian buyers. Families looking for a modern, feature-loaded, and economical urban commuter found exactly what they wanted in the Rizta.

The numbers tell the story clearly.

In less than a year, Ather sold its first 1 lakh Riztas. By October 2025, the figure had already crossed 2 lakh units. Now, the company has officially moved beyond the 3 lakh sales milestone, underlining the scooter’s extraordinary momentum in the Indian EV market.

From New Launch To Sales Leader

What makes the Rizta’s achievement even more significant is the role it now plays within Ather’s overall business.

During FY2025, the Rizta accounted for nearly 58% of Ather’s total dispatches. But the scooter’s popularity only grew stronger over time. In FY2026, its contribution surged to 76% of the company’s cumulative sales. Even in the opening month of FY2027, the Rizta continued to dominate, contributing approximately 77% of Ather’s sales volumes.

In simple terms, the Rizta is no longer just a successful product — it has become the company’s growth engine.

Variants, Pricing And BaaS Option

The Ather Rizta is available in two variants — Rizta S and Rizta Z — with prices starting at around Rs 1.11 lakh (ex-showroom).

To further improve accessibility, Ather also offers the scooter with a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. This allows customers to lower the initial purchase price while paying separately for battery usage, making EV ownership easier for a larger audience.

The Rizta’s success reflects a much larger trend in India’s automobile industry. Electric mobility is no longer limited to premium buyers or early adopters. Family buyers — traditionally one of the most practical and value-conscious customer groups in the country — are now increasingly embracing EVs.

For Ather Energy, the Rizta has done more than generate sales. It has expanded the brand’s reach beyond enthusiasts and positioned the company as a serious mass-market EV player.

As competition intensifies with rivals like Ola Electric, TVS Motor Company, and Bajaj Auto pushing aggressively into the segment, the Rizta’s strong momentum gives Ather a major advantage in the race for India’s growing electric scooter market.

And if current trends continue, the Rizta may well become one of the defining electric scooters of India’s EV revolution.
