India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, has officially unveiled the WagonR Flex Fuel, the country’s first passenger vehicle capable of running on E85 fuel, a blend containing up to 85% ethanol and 15% petrol. The vehicle was showcased in the presence of Nitin Gadkari and Hardeep Singh Puri ahead of World Environment Day on June 5.
Why E85 Fuel Matters
E85 fuel contains a significantly higher percentage of ethanol compared to the E20 fuel currently being rolled out in India. Since ethanol is produced from renewable agricultural sources such as sugarcane and maize, it offers environmental and economic benefits.
