Delhi Govt to Clear Pending EV Subsidy Dues Worth ₹140 Crore

The Delhi government has announced that it will soon start releasing pending electric vehicle (EV) subsidy payments amounting to nearly ₹140 crore. Transport Minister Pankaj Singh said on Monday that the department is verifying subsidy applications to clear the backlog, which has piled up over the past two years. A dedicated online portal is also being developed to make the process smoother.

This move comes after the Delhi High Court, on September 3, directed the government to immediately release the promised subsidies to EV buyers. The court emphasized that procedural issues cannot be used as an excuse to delay payments.

Officials explained that the delay was linked to the arrest of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in an excise case last year, which stalled cabinet meetings and prevented timely extension of the EV policy.
