Electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy has unveiled a brand-new two-wheeler platform that will power its next generation of e-scooters across different segments.
The new platform, named EL, has been designed to improve versatility, scalability, and cost-efficiency. This is Ather’s first new vehicle architecture since the popular Ather 450, marking a major milestone in the company’s journey.
Key Highlights of the Launch
Concept showcase: Ather displayed the Redux moto-scooter concept and introduced AtherStack 7.0, a smart tech suite with features like live location sharing, pothole and crash reporting, tyre pressure updates, and AI-based voice interaction.
Faster and easier service: The new platform reduces components, making scooters 15% quicker to assemble and allowing service intervals of up to 10,000 km.
Safety upgrades: New features include Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS), which shortens stopping distance and prevents rear-wheel lockups.
Charging boost: Ather unveiled a new 6 kW fast charger that can add up to 30 km range in just 10 minutes, twice as fast as its current chargers.
Cruise control: The 2025 Ather 450 Apex now comes with an advanced cruise control system designed for Indian roads.
Enhanced security: New ParkSafe and LockSafe features expand Ather’s theft protection suite.
Ather already operates two plants in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, for vehicles and batteries. A new factory is coming up at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, which will push the company’s total production capacity to 1.42 million EVs per year.
The latest AtherStack 7.0 uses AI and voice commands tuned to Indian languages, offering riders a more natural and safer way to interact with their scooters. It will be rolled out as an OTA (over-the-air) update to existing models like the Rizta Z and Ather 450X Gen 3.
With this launch, Ather Energy aims to serve a wider set of customers while making EV ownership more efficient, connected, and affordable.
